Camp NanoWriMo

This will be the second National Writers Month that I will be joining! Some of you may be asking what is it and why should you join?

I have to be honest and say that I am disappointed in myself that I didn’t participate as much as I could and should have last time. I did not use the site or my fellow writers to their full potential.

The amount of people that joined last time was amazing! It’s a place where writers from all over can get together and encourage each other with forums to ask questions or answer them.

Every day I would get a motivational message to push me to write more. Last time when I signed up, I believe every state had a couple of people (admins or whatever you’d like to call them) be in charge of a group of people. And there were even events where we could all meet in person and get together to mingle. I did not participate in forums or go to the events. My goal was 50,000 words. I wanted to finish my first novel and I did not achieve that. I made it to about 13,000. I am disappointed in the fact that I didn’t participate socially as much as I could have. I’ve always been the shy type and prefer others to come to me first. However, people wont do that when they don’t even know I am there lol. But I am NOT disappoint with the word count I got. Sure it was no where close to my goal, but I have never written that much consistently with any story I’ve ever done. That in itself was a personal goal and I am proud of myself. Usually I write scenes out and try to piece them together, but never do because I forget about them.

I just signed up for the Nanowrimo of July. And it asked if I wanted to be part of a group of writers. I said yes. I also have the same goal of 50,000 words. One of my friends turned me on to this event last time and this time, she has always been the more social one. And this time I want to take advantage of everything this event has to offer. I implore you to do the same. Don’t pass this up, it will be worth it no matter what. You will achieve goals you didn’t even realize you had. It is a great confidence booster and has amazing people who are in the journey with you!
